"In all my works, be it paintings or installations, I try to (re)create a
brand new world at a smaller scale. I am interested and intrigued by the
way that small, singular, different elements come together and end up
defining a person, a race, a place, an event or even a nation. Seeing
beyond the surface has become a paranoiac act.
The fact that nowadays people only react to images that are either very
loud or just the contrary, don’t take them out of their comfort zone,

| Between May 29 and June 27 you are cordially invited to visit the “Toegang Vrij” salon held in the Bergkerk, Deventer. The exhibition, featuring 84 Deventer artists, will show 3 of my newer works. | After a successful run at the Oerol festival the unique swarm of paintings embarked on a world tour. Recently the Wind Nomads were in New York on Governors Island as part of the New Island Festival, commemorating the 400 years of New York – Netherlands relations. The festival, which took place between 12- 20 sept. 2009, created the opportunity for the SLEM team to rearrange the temporary installation into a new shape and in a different setting. | As the Oerol festival came to an end, the SLEM – Wind Nomads project takes a break, before traveling to Manhattan and South Africa. The pictures of the temporary installation, exhibited on the beach of Terschelling, are now online. You can find images of my piece as well as views of the whole installation in my installations section. Gerrit Bart, a very good native Terschelling photographer also took some KAP (Kite Areal Photography) pictures. | |
